Mike Elsbury was a 1999 NYSC delegate from Idaho, and has served the NYSF on Staff seven summers in various positions. Mike graduated magna cum laude from University of Idaho in, 2003 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. After two years at the Boeing Company he put off industry for higher education and spent 5 epic years playing in the mountains around the University of Colorado in Boulder. In his spare time he completed a PhD in elecromagnetics researching superconducting microwave integrated circuits with the National Institute of Standards. Since receiving his doctorate in 2010 Mike has been a Principal Microwave Engineer with Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. He occupies, his spare time with scuba diving trips to Mexico, backpacking trips to Norway, and mountaineering expeditions to Ecuador, as well as the more mundane skiing, climbing, kayaking, and mountain biking in the mountains of New Mexico.
